Curvaceous Cocoon Clinic Design
A medical clinic is usually visited, when one requires medical treatment – not a place most people would look forward to go.
Thus, when we received the project brief for a dental clinic, AR-kee Design Studio team crafted a curvaceous interior design to create a calm and safe space like a protected cocoon.
Upon entering the clinic, patients would be greeted by a circular welcome area with curved walls that curve towards the ceiling and into the waiting area.

To keep the focal interior design on the curved lines around the reception area.
While preserving a sterile environment, the rooms were decorated in warm, pastel tones, which is a departure from the typical all-white appearance of medical facilities.
Calming curves are featured again in the flooring and ceiling along the corridors, providing patients with a seamless flow of comfort as they walk into their treatment room.
The definition of “cocoon” is to envelop someone protectively from an unpleasant situation.
Thus, to design a friendly clinic, we want to cocoon their incoming patients by strategically using materials in the interior furnishings.
Cove lights, soft furnishings, and wallpapers were strategically arranged throughout the clinic to give the sensation of snuggling everyone comfortably in this cozy and safe space.
In addition, a tooth-like light feature cluster was installed at the reception to create a fun twist to the clinic atmosphere.
Lastly, we added a sleek walk-in pantry to the clinic. The pantry is designed with open shelves so the space can be stocked with warm and cold beverages for patients to enjoy and relax.
Visiting a dentist can be intimidating to many, but an effective interior design can create a relaxing and welcoming space in an unpopular clinical environment.
