Designing a child’s room – Top tips for girl’s and boy’s bedroom design

Your child is growing up and it’s time to design their bedroom! This can be a fun but daunting task, especially if you’re not sure where to start. So whether you’re decorating a girl’s bedroom or a boy’s bedroom, we’ve got some tips for you to get started. From colours to furniture, read on for everything you need to create the perfect child’s room.

For girls:

Think about colors and themes.

Young girls usually love light, bright colors and cheerful themes like flowers, butterflies or rainbows. You could also use pink, purple or other pastel shades to create a feminine feel.

Add plenty of storage space.

As girls tend to accumulate lots of soft toys and other fashion accessories, make sure there is plenty of storage space in the room. This could include built-in wardrobes, shelving or baskets.

Mirror, mirror on the wall.

Most girls love having pretty things in their bedroom, such as curtains, a vanity table and accessories. You could also add a touch of glamor with some mirrors or chandeliers.

Think about the layout.

Princesses would like to have their bed and dressing table near each other, with plenty of space for playing around on the floor. You may also want to consider adding a small sofa or chair so that they can relax in their room.

For boys:

Stick to neutral colors.

Young men would incline towards muted colors like blue, green or brown. You could also use stripes or checks to create a boyish feel.

Adorn the place with their favorite items.

One way to make a boy’s room more personal is to decorate it with things they like. For example, if they’re into sports, you could put up posters of their favorite teams or players. Or, if they’re interested in astronomy, you could hang a mobile of the solar system. Whatever their favorite cartoon character is, you could also try to find some bedding or wall decals featuring that character.

Incorporate furniture.

Boys will need a wardrobe for storing clothes. Aesthetically, customised wardrobes can add to the tone of a room. Wardrobes can come in many colors, shapes, and sizes. When selecting a wardrobe for a boy’s room, one must consider how it will fit into the space of the room and if it will complement it.

Neat and spacious room.

Boys need adequate space to play and have boys activities, so it’s important to keep their bedrooms neat and spacious to ensure they have room to grow and play. By doing so, they can have a fun and enjoyable time while also staying organized and can help encourage healthy habits in boys as they continue to develop and mature.

A child’s bedroom is their private hideaway, their space for relaxing, dreaming, playing, and growing.

Your children are an important part of the bedroom design process, so get them involved! Let their imagination run wild with color choices and what they want on display. They may also have creative ideas that you hadn’t considered!
